A Multi-Day Journey Through Transnistria (6 days/5 nights)
Discover the unique atmosphere of Transnistria, a fascinating region where Soviet heritage remains part of everyday life. Explore the streets of Tiraspol, visit the historic Bender Fortress, taste local wines and caviar, and experience authentic traditions along the Dniester River.
Tour Itinerary:
You will be met by your guide at Chisinau International Airport and transferred to your hotel by private vehicle. Check in at your hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a Chisinau Walking Tour (2.5 hours). You’ll explore the city’s main parks, Soviet-era and imperial-style buildings, as well as several of the oldest churches in the capital. The tour includes key landmarks such as the Triumphal Arch, the Cathedral, Stephen the Great Monument, Chisinau City Hall, and the main boulevard where many administrative buildings and cultural institutions are located.
Many administrative buildings, such as the Presidency, the Parliament and the City Administration, are located on Stephen the Great Boulevard. Visit different cultural centers such as the M. Eminescu National Theatre, the Organ Hall, and the Opera and Ballet Theatre.
After the city tour, you can have a walk through downtown and explore the city centre on your own.
Gathering and meeting at the hotel at 8:45 (reception hall) and departure to explore north of Transnistria region, where we’ll start with Rabnita town, third largest town in Transnistria. In north of Transnistria, we visit Rabnita city, an industrial Soviet looking town. Visit the Steel Mill (we don’t visit the factory. You can see the head office of the factory and one of chimneys only from outside), Lenin monument, soviet mosaics on the house of culture, Memorial of Glory for the Great Patriotic War, Michail-Archangel-Cathedral. Next, we go to Rascov village, to see the bust of hero of Soviet Union Fiodor Zharchinskiy, Lenin monument, Polish Saint-Caietan-Cathedral from the 18th century (not always open), synagogue walls from the 18th century.
Next, we go to Camenca town (about 175km from Tiraspol). Here we visit Lenin monument in city center, Wittgenstein Park, Memorial of Glory for Great Patriotic War.
From Camenca we move south to Dubasari. Lunch time in a traditional style restaurant in Dubasari. After lunch we visit Lenin monument in Dubasari, Memorial of Glory, Soviet stadium, Hydroelectric Dam.
In Dubasari we can visit "Buket Moldavii" factory dates back to the early 30s of the 20th centuries, when a distillery was organized on the basis of a cooperative artel. During the Great Patriotic War, the wine center was completely destroyed and rebuilt after the liberation of Dubossary from German troops.
Excursion + Tasting program at “Buket Moldavii”. Each tasting level provides for a tour of the plant's territory with a visit to the main production workshops. Tasting of 5 drinks (wine/cognac/vermouth), snacks, water.

Day 3: Hidden Treasures of Central Part of Transnistria
About 09:00am departure to Grigoriopol, to visit Memorial of Glory for the Great Patriotic War, Lenin monument, orthodox chapel, monument for Catherine the Great. We go to visit La Botul Calului – a Rural Retreat in Mălăiești village, located on the way to Tiraspol. La Botul Calului is a charming rural complex offering authentic local cuisine, traditional hospitality, and beautiful countryside scenery. Surrounded by nature and the peaceful landscapes of the Dniester region, it is an ideal destination for cultural tours, family gatherings, outdoor activities, and travelers seeking an authentic Transnistrian experience. Visitors can enjoy homemade dishes, local traditions, and a relaxing atmosphere away from the busy city life. We visit the local museum, enjoy some traditional meals, homemade wine.
Around 15:00 we arrive in Tiraspol and go to KVINT Brandy factory. A brandy Tasting (Standard Level) at Tiraspol Winery & Distillery KVINT with a tasting of 5 divines and a duration of 1.5 hours. We will take you around the company museum, their modern assembly line and the huge collection of barrels. Of course, no tour in a distillery would be complete without a tasting. But not a regular one. Knowing which chocolate goes with which cognac is an art in itself and finding the perfect pairing is technical, but worth it. You will learn from a Kvint Factory sommelier how the refined taste of cognac and the rich aroma of chocolate can make a perfect combination.

At 09:00am departure from Tiraspol to Aquatir Sturgeon complex. We can visit Aquatir Sturgeon Farm. A modern sturgeon complex for breeding sturgeon fish and producing black caviar. During the tour, guests learn about the fish breeding process and caviar production technology. Here we do excursion and Caviar Tasting with sparkling wine, water.
Next, we depart to visit Slobozia, Dnestrovsc and Cioburciu. A short walk through the city center of Slobozia, getting to know the architecture and atmosphere of the region. It is also home to one of our favorite underrated spots in Transnistria which is the Mad Max style fishing village built on a lake from scrap steel looted from the plant during the chaotic days of the civil war.
In Dnestrovse we visit Lenin-Statues, The Monument "Power Man" - Prometheusstatue in city center, mosaics on the palace of culture "Power Man", Bas-Relief of Lenins picture on the main office of power station, the Cuciurgan Lake.
Lunch time.
Next, we depart to Cioburciu is one of the oldest in Moldova, located on the banks of the Dniester River in the "Lower Dniester" National Park and offering stunning views. One of the region's most famous parks. A place to relax, stroll, and recharge before the next stage of the route. Chobruchi Park, the House of Culture, and Sovietera buildings.
On the way back to Tiraspol we can visit Noul Neamt Monastery complex in Chitcani village. The Noul Neamt Monastery represents the sequence of the Zaprutsky Nyametsky Lavra of the largest cultural and educational centers of medieval Moldova. When the monks were forbidden to worship Slavonic language in this church, they were forced to go away and move to the present Chitcani village, where they founded the Noul Neamt Monastery in 1859.
Around 17:30 departure to Tiraspol, dinner, free time and overnight (Russia Hotel).
After breakfast we start a city tour of Tiraspol, where we visit the buildings of the Soviets, the monument of Suvorov, Central Market. Notable places to visit include the Vladimir Lenin monument and the tanks left over from WWII. Most of the sites could be seen by walking down the main street, called October 25th Street in honor of the 1917 October Socialist Revolution.
Will explore Soviet architecture in Tiraspol: Lenin monument, Suvorov monument, Memorial of Glory, Theater from 1936, University of Taras Shevcenko, House of Soviets, the Soviet parks of Tiraspol.
On the way to Bender, we visit Parkani village - the largest Bulgarian village in the region. It is home to a Bulgarian community that has preserved its language, traditions and elements of national culture. Welcome procedure with fresh bread, sour, Bulgarian banitsa pie and homemade wine like in Soviet times. A great Folk-show can be arranged as well. Guests participate in a themed reenactment of the Soviet ceremony "Admission to the Pioneers," followed by an ethnocultural concert in the Soviet House of Culture.
Next, we depart to Bender and have lunch in a soviet style bistro. Afterwards, we visit Bender Fortress that dates back from the 16th century, built by the Moldavian ruler Stefan cel Mare as a part of the defense chain on the Nistru River. In 1538, as the city became the part of the Ottoman empire, the sultan, Suleiman the Magnificent, rebuilt the fortress in stone, and renamed the city as Bender. Will explore soviet architecture in Bender: Tighina Military Cemetery, Bendery train station, The Gorky cinema, local Mosaics.
Transfer from Bender to Chisinau (75 km) and overnight in Chisinau.
Day 6: Visit Petru Costin Soviet Museum and Milestii Mici Wine Tour. Transfer to the Chisinau International Airport.
At 09:00am we depart to visit Petru Costin Soviet Museum.
The Petru Costin Soviet Museum is an open-air statue park located near Suruceni / Ialoveni, about 25 km from Chisinau. It displays many Soviet-era monuments and sculptures that were removed after the collapse of the USSR and later collected by Moldovan collector Petru Costin. Some sculptures are damaged or incomplete, reflecting the turbulent political changes after 1991 when many Soviet monuments were dismantled across Eastern Europe.
Next, we depart to Milestii Mici Winery - listed in The Guinness Book of World Records with a collection of 2 million bottles and being considered the largest wine cellar in the world. Excursion through wine cellars + Wine Tasting program. This underground wine city appeared in galleries excavated in lime mining operations during the 70-es of the last century, at the depth of 40-85 meters, and is one of the largest wine cellars in the world. The total length of the galleries consists of 200 km, from which more than 50 km are used.
