Nature & Adventure Tour (9 days/8 nights)

From hiking and cycling through quiet countryside to kayaking on the Dniester and exploring dramatic ravines and forest trails, Moldova offers authentic, low-impact adventures close to nature. With welcoming villages, rich biodiversity, and wide open spaces far from mass tourism, it’s an ideal destination for active travelers.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1:  Arrive in Chisinau

You will be met by your guide at Chisinau International Airport and transferred to your hotel by private vehicle. Check in at your hotel with some time to relax. Free time. 

Day 2:  Old Orhei Natural Reservation Hiking Trail

Next morning, transfer to Old Orhei Natural Reservation. We go on an excursion to Orheiul Vechi situated in a picturesque setting. You will have the opportunity to visit the most interesting archaeological site housing the ruins of two cities (14th -16th century). Tatars settled here on their expansion to Western Europe. Continue with a visit to the well-maintained Orthodox cave monastery called St. Maria Dormata which was expanded and modified inside the cliffs by monks over the centuries. 

The Bacota hiking route in the Old Orhei Reservation offers one of the most scenic and atmospheric nature walks in Moldova. This trail follows the meandering Răut River, passing limestone cliffs, open meadows, and panoramic viewpoints that reveal the dramatic landscape shaping this historic area.

Along the route, hikers encounter ancient rock formations, remnants of old settlements, and traditional villages that preserve the rural charm of central Moldova. The trail is moderately easy, suitable for leisure hikers, nature lovers, and photography enthusiasts, with plenty of stops for rest and observation.

Late lunch with traditional food at agro-pension in Butuceni or Trebujeni village. Overnight in a local guesthouse. 

Day 3: Full-Day Hiking Trip to Tipova Cave Monastery and Reservation & Saharna Monastery

In the morning after breakfast continue your journey to the banks of the Dniester River, where Tipova Cave Monastery stands out as a remarkable rock-hewn monastic complex, arguably the most impressive in Moldova and one of the largest in Europe. 

It is said that some cells were carved into the rocks along the banks of the Dniester as early as the 10th-12th centuries, serving as protection against barbarian invasions. The Țipova Natural Reservation trail features a scenic hike through a rocky, forested gorge along the Dniester River, highlighting a 10th-12th century cave monastery complex and multiple waterfalls.

The landscape in this area is simply stunning: the tranquil waters of the Dniester, steep cliffs concealing hundreds of cells and caves, the beauty of nature, and waterfalls. The route typically starts near the monastery, descending into a valley with sheer cliffs, lush greenery, and the Tipova River, leading to cascades.

After exploring Tipova Natural reservation we will continue our tour to Saharna Monastery, on the banks of Dniester river. The Saharna Reservation trail, located near the Saharna Monastery in Rezina District, offers a moderately challenging hike through scenic forests and gorges, usually starting near Nidea Cafe. The route, which takes several hours, features steep, sometimes muddy sections that lead to numerous waterfalls and the ancient rock-hewn monastery, requiring sturdy footwear, especially during wet conditions.

Dinner & home-made wine tasting and overnight in the village of Lalova, in the local guesthouses. 

Day 4: Hiking tour to Duruitoarea Landscape Reserve and outdoor activities at Stânca Costești Lake

Breakfast and departure towards the north of Moldova, to the picturesque Stânca Costești Lake on the Prut River. This natural area is known for its numerous rocky gorges and high hills - the remains of the barrier reef of the ancient Sarmatian Sea. Coral reefs, or in other words, the formation of underwater rocks, have formed a unique landscape in the channels of small streams flowing into the Prut. The trail winds through the Duruitoarea Gorge, a protected natural area known for its steep cliffs, forested slopes, and rich biodiversity.

Participants will have the opportunity to SUP on Costești-Stânca Lake and explore the Văratic Gorge and Văratic Hill. In addition to these physical activities, the group will visit the museum in Duruitoarea, where the fascinating history of the region is recounted.

Camping dinner and overnight stay in Varatic or Duruitoarea villages, in guesthouses. 

Day 5: Trails of the Wild North: Suta de Movile, Butesti & Pădurea Domnească

The next day, after breakfast, the hike will continue with the exploration of Butești Gorges, the Royal Forest (Pădurea Domneasca).

The "Buteşti Gorges": A stone story of the past on earth, located near the village of Buteşti on an area of 110 ha, the Camenca River digs a picturesque gorge through the row of toltres. Among them, the "Uriaşul" stands out with a length of over 2000 meters, a width of 125 meters and a height of 40 meters. 

The day will begin with a transfer to Suta de Movile (The Hundred Hills) Landscape Reserve, a unique geological phenomenon in the space between Prut and Dniester rivers. The mounds are much more than 100, as there are over 3500. It is one of Moldova’s most intriguing natural landscapes, located in the north of the country near the Prut River. This unique area is characterized by hundreds of small, rounded hills stretching across the horizon, creating a surreal and almost mythical scenery found nowhere else in Moldova.

A visit to Suta de Movile is perfect for nature lovers, hikers, photographers, and curious travelers seeking something off the beaten path.

Next, we depart to visit the largest scientific reserve in Moldova is located in the Middle Prut meadow, in an area known as the “Royal Forest”, approximately 185 km from Chisinau. The forest in the Prut meadow, taken under state protection since 1993, is one of the most valuable in Europe, with an area of 6039 ha, of which 3054 ha are forests. Lunch time.

After the excursion, you will be transferred to campsite “Pe Toloaca” in Milesti village. Dinner & home-made wine tasting. Overnight.

Day 6: Nature Escape Trail: Bălănești Hill & Pe Toloacă campsite

Today morning, prepare yourself to explore a trail to Balanesti Hill. The Bălănești Hill trail leads travelers to the highest point of the Republic of Moldova, rising to about 430 meters above sea level and offering wide, open views over the Codrii landscape. Located in central Moldova, this route is a favorite among hikers seeking a peaceful escape and a sense of achievement without technical difficulty. From its top, a special 360-degree panorama opens up in any season. The trail passes through gentle forest paths, open meadows, and rural scenery, gradually ascending toward the summit.

Lunch time at campsite “Pe Toloaca”. Next, we go to the "Cazimir" Dendrological Park in the village of Milesti, which is a national monument of landscape architecture built in the second half of the 19th century. It is 150 years old and is the symbol of the village. Although it is not very large in size, it stands out for its picturesque places, but especially for its dendrological wealth. 


Then drive to Văleni village. Dinner and overnight in Eco-Village Valeni. 

Day 7: Southern Moldova: Nature, Traditions & Authentic Experiences

After breakfast, we will visit the History and Ethnography Museum, dedicated to local crafts and the region’s rich gastronomic heritage. The journey continues toward the “Lunca Prutului de Jos” Nature Reserve, part of the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves. The area is home to over 200 species of birds, 40 species of mammals, and more than 300 species of plants, many of which are included in Moldova’s Red Book and considered endangered. The region holds exceptional ecological value, serving as a gateway to the Danube Biosphere Reserve. Located at the intersection of three major Eurasian bird migration routes, it is a truly unique destination for nature lovers.

Traditional lunch prepared with local products in a local agro-pension Eco Village Văleni. In the afternoon, we offer a boat trip, giving guests the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful landscapes and discover the rich biodiversity of the region. In the evening, guests will depart to Chisinau and overnight in the hotel.

Day 8: Kayaking Tour on the Dniester River

After breakfast, head for a kayaking experience on Dniester river. The tour will start from the basecamp in Vadul lui Voda and goes to Corjova village. Being transported to Corjova village, tour participants will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the beautiful rural sightseeing, churches, local houses, located along the road, and which belong to local cultural patrimony. You will see a nice calm river, with very few people as you are passing only near one village, but lots of birds, cows, horses, and if you are lucky even boars. A measured rafting along the calm flow of the Dniester River from the village of Corjova to Vadul lui Voda. With a stop for rest, swimming, snack. Along the way there are several islands that we will go to if possible. All kayaking experiences take around 4-5 hours. Late lunch break (lunch boxes). 


In the evening, you will be transferred to the hotel in Chisinau. Free time and overnight.

Day 9: Departure Day. Chisinau International Airport transfer

Your amazing adventure in Moldova end with happy memories and fly to your onward destination from Chisinau International Airport.
